This pilgrimage is an opportunity to be truly uplifted on this gently paced journey combining the two great Marian Shrines of Fatima and Lourdes as we follow a Saintly path through quaint Spanish villages rich in the history of their holy men and women who have gone before.

Itinerary

Tour commences in Lisbon Tuesday 10 September 2019 and Tuesday 08 September 2020.

Day 1: LISBON

Welcome to postcard-perfect Lisbon on the Atlantic coast. Transfer to our hotel for registration then meet our fellow travellers at the included Welcome Dinner. D

DAY 2: LISBON, FATIMA

Set out on our first morning to discover Portugal’s capital with our local guide. Our first stop is the great Basilica of St Anthony, where we celebrate an amazing group Mass. After an intriguing stop at World Heritage listed Jeronimo’s Monastery we see nearby Belem Tower and the Monument of Discoveries. Our route north towards Fatima takes us to the Holy Miracle Church at Santarem containing the oldest recorded Eucharistic miracle. Mass Setting: Basilica of St Anthony. B, D

DAY 3: FATIMA

Walk the Stations along the beautiful Way of the Cross culminating in the Chapel of Calvary overlooking all of Fatima. We venture into Valinhos, the site of the fourth apparition of Our Lady before heading to the visionary’s homes and original parish church in Aljustrel. Tonight, we’ll join the festive Anniversary Vigil ceremonies. Mass Setting: Original Parish Church. B, D

DAY 4: FATIMA

We wake to the joyous sound of pilgrims from all over the world to celebrate today's celebrations. The ceremony includes the touching ‘Adios’ spectacle (waving of the white handkerchiefs) and upon its conclusion we enjoy a tour of the Square including the cherished site of the Apparitions. Mass Setting: International Solemnity. B, D

DAY 5: FATIMA, AVILA

We cross the border into Spain and pass through magical Salamanca before reaching the quaint village of Alba de Tormes where St Teresa befriended St John of the Cross. After a Mass in the convent, we journey to the historic walled town of Avila. Mass Setting: Alba de Tormes Convent. B, D

DAY 6: AVILA

In the Convent of Saint Teresa today we marvel at the very spot where this brilliant saint was born. Onward to the grand Avila Cathedral and the fascinating Monastery of the Incarnation where we can view St Teresa’s cell and relics. Enjoy the afternoon discovering the charming atmosphere of old Spain. Mass Setting: Convent of Saint Teresa. B, D

DAY 7: VIA SEGOVIA, CALERUEGA TO SANTO DOMINGO DE SILOS

We embark east on our pilgrimage towards Segovia for a visit to its stunning Gothic Cathedral. Marvel too at the best conserved aqueduct of the Imperial Roman Empire before entering the ancient church holding the mortal remains of St John of the Cross. From here we head north to Caleruega, birthplace of St Dominic. Here on our tour we discover the life of this remarkable saint. We journey on to Santo Domingo de Silos, home to the amazing Benedictine Abbey where we’ll experience the sound of Gregorian chants from the monks. Mass Setting: Vera Cruz Segovia. B, D

DAY 8: SANTO DOMINGO DE SILOS, LOURDES

After our privileged chance to attend the Abbey’s chanted High Mass, we examine ancient pieces of art at the adjacent Monastery Museum then take the road to Loyola to discover St Ignatius’ birthplace and where he later converted. Before the sun sets we weave through the scenic foothills of the Pyrenees before entering Lourdes. Mass Setting: Abbey - Gregorian Chant. B, D

DAY 9: LOURDES

We celebrate an impressive International Mass with pilgrims worldwide, followed by a visit to the little village of Bartres where we take time out at the Sheepfold where St Bernadette would tend her flock. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon while exploring the peaceful town of Lourdes. Mass Setting: Underground Basilica of Pius X. B, D

DAY 10: LOURDES

The perfect start to our day involves a moving Mass at the Grotto before our guided walking tour of Lourdes. Prepare for a highlight with the opportunity to immerse in the miraculous Baths. Join the evening candlelight procession in the holy square. Mass Setting: Grotto of Lourdes. B, D

DAY 11: VIA MANRESA, MONTSERRAT

Beyond the breath taking drive through the Pyrenees, we approach Manresa and to the cave where the pious St Ignatius spent 11 months recuperating and developing his spiritual exercises. Our final night is spent on the 4,000-foot-high cliff-top monastery of Montserrat, dedicated to ‘the Black Madonna” discovered in the Holy Cave. Mass Setting: Cave at Manresa. B, D

DAY 12: MONTSERRAT, BARCELONA

On our final morning, breathe in the sacred atmosphere on our visit to the Chapel and Holy Cave before hearing the world renowned Montserrat Boys Choir to close our pilgrimage. Return to Barcelona airport for onward travel. Mass Setting: Montserrat Basilica. B
